This Privacy Policy describes how Diaryx ("we", "us") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our application and services (the "Service").
1. Information We Collect
Information You Provide
- Email address: Used for account creation and authentication via magic links.
- Notes and content: When you use cloud sync, your notes, entries, and attachments are transmitted to and stored on our servers.
- Published content: Content you choose to publish is stored and served publicly or to your chosen audience.
Information Collected Automatically
- Device identifiers: A locally-generated device ID used to manage sync connections. This is not tied to hardware identifiers.
- Basic usage data: Server logs that include timestamps and request metadata, retained for operational purposes.
Information We Do NOT Collect
- We do not use analytics or tracking SDKs.
- We do not collect browsing history, location data, or contacts.
- We do not sell or share your personal data with third parties for advertising.
2. How We Use Your Information
- Authentication: Your email is used to send magic link sign-in emails.
- Sync: Your content is stored on our servers to synchronize it across your devices.
- Publishing: Content you publish is served to the audience you configure.
- Billing: Payment processing is handled by Stripe (web/desktop) or Apple (iOS/macOS). We do not store your payment card details. See Stripe's Privacy Policy and Apple's Privacy Policy for details.
- AI features (Plus): If you use AI features, relevant note content is sent to our AI provider to generate responses. We do not use your content to train AI models.
- Service operation: Server logs are used for debugging, security monitoring, and maintaining service reliability.
3. Data Storage and Security
- Your synced data is stored on servers operated via Cloudflare. Data is encrypted in transit (TLS).
- Published content is stored in Cloudflare R2 and served via Cloudflare's network.
- We implement reasonable security measures to protect your data, but no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
4. Data Retention
- Your content is retained as long as your account is active.
- If you delete your account, your synced data and published sites are deleted from our servers.
- Server logs are retained for a limited period for operational purposes.
- Local data on your devices is not affected by account deletion and remains under your control.
5. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services:

We do not sell your data to third parties.
6. Your Rights
You may:
- Access your data: Your notes are always available locally and via the app.
- Export your data: Diaryx stores notes as standard Markdown files. You can access them directly on disk (CLI/desktop) or export them from the app.
- Delete your data: You may delete individual notes at any time. You may delete your account to remove all synced data from our servers.
- Cancel your subscription: At any time, via Settings (Stripe) or your device's subscription management (Apple).
If you are in the EU/EEA, you may also have rights under the GDPR including the right to rectification, data portability, and the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.
7. Children's Privacy
The Service is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected such information, please contact us so we can delete it.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you via the Service or by email. The "Effective Date" at the top indicates when the policy was last updated.
